Hyperscope Dev Meeting (March 14, 2006)

Once again, our dev meeting this past Tuesday was an Augment jam session, and so we didn’t audio record it. John Deneen videotaped the event again (thanks, John!), and we’ll try to upload the video soon. (Incidentally, if anyone can help with MP4-encoding video so we can upload it somewhere, please contact me.) Our special guests this week were Harvey Lehtman, ex-Tymshare and long-time Doug colleagues Bill Daul and Norm Hardy, Frode Hegland, and Alex Russell, creator of Dojo, which Brad has been using for his Hyperscope prototypes.

Frode kicked off the meeting by giving a demo of Hyperwords. We then delved into our regularly scheduled Augment jam session. We continued to uncover a lot of ground, including more discussion on view specs and new learnings on file sharing and permissions.

It continues to be a joy to have long-time Augment users like Harvey, Bill, Norm, and of course, Doug there guiding us with their experiences. It’s amazing how much we’ve learned in a few weeks, and it’s been fun. Brad shared some of his experiences on his blog.

As great as these shared sessions have been, we would very much like to quietly observe experienced people use Augment. There are a lot of practices that folks take for granted and don’t think to mention as a result. We’re going to start next week by attempting to capture about half an hour of Doug’s regular usage, then watching and analyzing together at our next dev meeting.

Finally, awareness of our project continues to grow, thanks to all of you getting the word out, and long-time Augment users coming out of the ether to offer their help. Thanks to all of you! Please, continue to follow this blog, join our dev mailing list, and participate!
