Visual Thinking
From Collaboratory
Using visualizations to capture and facilitate thinking.
Concept Mapping (and its cousins, including Mind Mapping and Dialogue Mapping) are great tools for visual thinking. There's software that do both and can be used collaboratively (either built into the software or by using a Shared Display). You can also always use a trusty whiteboard or Post-It notes for all of these techniques.
Folks who are good at visual thinking:
- The Dialogue Mapping community (Jeff Conklin, Al Selvin, Simon Buckingham Shum)
- Dave Gray
- Folks from the Value Web, especially Alicia Bramlett, Bryan Coffman, and Brian Narelle
- Eileen Clegg
